Govt, of Assam Fee Waiver Schemes:

Applicability:

1. Students’ parental annual income must be less than Rupees I lakh from all sources.
2. Students whose either of the parents (mother or father) is working in State Govt./ Central Govt/ Semi Govt./ State or Central Govt, undertakings shall not be eligible under this scheme.

Documents required for Fee Waiver Schemes:

1. Original mark sheet of student will be stamped at the back.
2. An income certificate from Local Circle Officer.
3. A signed declaration from the student in prescribed format of the University.

Hostel Rules and Regulations

1. Admission to the University hostels is made for one academic year only, strictly in order of merit, subject to availability of seats. On promotion to the next higher class, the admission to the hostel is to be renewed by filling up the Renewal Form subject to the fulfillment of the following satisfactory record of the boarded which includes – (a) Regularity in paying hostel dues, (b) good conduct and observance of the hostel rule and regulations, and (c) regularity in attending classes in University.

Married students and local students of Greater Guwahati will not be allowed to stay in the hostels of Cotton University.

Service holders are not entitled to any seat in hostel. Students dropping any final/test/promotion examination will forfeit his/her hostel seat.

2. Hostel seats will be allotted to the students by the University authority and transfer from one hostel to another or first withdrawal from one hostel and then seeking admission in other hostel shall not be allowed.

3. Students admitted in a hostel have to occupy their seats as per allotment made by the superintendent concerned. No mutual exchange of rooms allowed within the hostel.

4. On the day of admission in the hostel, the parent/legal guardian as well as the local guardian must be present to complete the necessary formalities.

5. Any change of address or contact number of both the parent/legal guardian and the local guardian must be intimated immediately to the superintendent of the hostel.

6. At the time of renewal of admission in the hostels, parents/local guardians must be present with the candidate to sign the renewal form as well as the prescribed undertaking form.

Discipline to be maintained

1. Ragging is strictly forbidden: Any student found indulging in any form of ragging or harassment to boarders is liable for expulsion from the hostel as well as from the college. In this regard, the guardian will have to sign an undertaking at the time of admission/renewal as per the recent verdict of the Hon’ble Supreme court of India.

2. All boarders must remain in their allotted rooms during the study hours, as ordered by the superintendent complying to the Hostel Advisory Committee’s recommendations.

Any breach of discipline may liable to expulsion from the University as decided by the authority.
