With the history of Indian Army going hundreds of years ago, the largest in the world. - Headquarters Western Command, Chandimandir; And
- Headquarters Southern Command, Pune
Apart from this, there is an Army training command in Shimla for the purpose of laying down training policies for the Army.
Employment of more than one lakh young men and women of Indian Armed Forces every year. One officer or army can join the army as a man. Armed force is recruited provided it meets the criteria for physical, medical and education, is voluntary and every citizen of India is eligible for recruitment, despite his caste, class, religion and community. For recruitment in the Army, every State is done according to the Recruitable Male Population (RMP).
