CAT 2020 Registration Guide
Overview
You can register for CAT 2020 from the official CAT 2020 website www.iimcat.ac.in between the period of August 2020 and September 2020. Registration steps to CAT 2020 are as follows:
- · Register to create a Profile
- · Login with system generated User ID and Password
- · Submit Application which includes filling details and making an online payment
Upon creating a profile, you will receive a User ID on email and Password on your mobile number. Using these credentials you can log in as Existing User to fill out the Application form. The application need not be completed at once, but you can revisit the form several times. However, once the online payment is made, you will not be allowed to edit any details on the Application form.

Before you Register
Kindly follow the instructions below before you start registration for CAT 2020.
1. Check your eligibility for CAT 2020 by referring to the Eligibility document on the website.
2. Ensure you have a valid and unique email address and mobile number.
3. “*” (asterisk) indicates a mandatory field. The boxes marked with this symbol must be filled in or you will not be allowed submit your application for CAT 2020.
4. Gather all the information you will need, for filling the form, such as:
a. Educational history
b. Mark sheets (10th/12th/Degree/Diploma)
c. Work experience
d. Applicable Certificates to upload
e. Scanned images of your passport photo and signature
f. List of the IIM programmes to which you are applying
CAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD)/Differently Able (DA) category).
The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/ CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained the bachelor’s degree.
Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.iimcat.ac.in. Applicants should note that the mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by IIMs. Prospective candidates must maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process.
List of Equivalent Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./Post Diploma ) or B.E/B.Tech equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institution of Engineers -India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers India).
2. Any Qualification recognized by Association of Indian Universities New Delhi, which is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree awarded by UGC recognized University/Institutions.
3. Cases not covered above equivalency certificate to be produced from Association of Indian Universities New Delhi.
Reservations:
As per the Government of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “non – creamy” layer (NC – OBC).
CAT Schedule Important Dates
CAT 2020 Schedule:
This Year CAT 2020 is to be conducted by IIM Ahmadabad and TCS. CAT exam expected to be held in November every year but in 2020 it is expected in October 2020.
CAT 2020 applications will expectedly starts from 26th July 2020. Below mentioned are tentative CAT 2020 examination schedule. We will keep you updated once final schedule will be released.
Here are few some changes that will be incorporated in CAT 2020:
- CAT 2020 will be held on a single day in two-sessions except two days as per last year.
- Authorities will try to provide female candidates centers which are near to their city.
- The number of cities conducting CAT will be increased up to 115 which were 99 last year.
- Quant will not dominate the percentile rank in CAT, thus opening up the playing field for non-engineering students
CAT exam and CAT scores will not be skewed towards a particular set of candidates from a particular background.
