About CBSE & CSAB: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) are two different and independent boards. CBSE conducts JEE (Main) examination and publishes the All India Rank (AIR). CSAB-2018 uses the AIR (60% JEE Main marks and 40%, Class 12th or equivalent marks prepared by CBSE after normalization) published by CBSE for seat allocation purposes. CSAB-2018 is not responsible for any error either in marks or in AIR of JEE (Main) -2018.
JEE Main 2018 Counselling Process:
Step 1: Online Registration (8 to 12 July 2018)
- Candidate Registration. Register here
- Enter your Credentials like JEE(Main) Roll Number & Password
- If you don’t remember Password click on Forget Password & proceed as per instructions
- Check your basic information including AIR and other details as furnished in JEE(Main) will be displayed in READ ONLY MODE.
Update your credentials and basic information if there are any mistakes found. Candidates will be allowed only once to update his/her credentials.
Proceed with the instructions & fill up required information you are asked for.
Candidates need to check their mobile number & email id twice & trice if they are entered correctly & they are in active mode.
Note: All the important events including seat allotment, fee paid etc. will be communicated to the candidate through SMS & Email.
Hence the candidate must have their mobile in active mode during registration. Candidate should ensure that your mobile number is not registered for “Do Not Disturb(DND)”. All further communication related to CSAB-2018 admission will be sent on above mentioned mobile number and email IDs.
Stage 2: Online Choice Filling, Saving and Locking.
- Choice filling for JEE Main 2018 – 8 to 12 July 2018.
- At this stage, all the registered candidates are required to fill their choices of branches and institutes in order of their preference. Candidates can fill in as many number of choices in the order of their preference from the list of available seats.
- Candidates are permitted, if they so desire, to change or re-order their choices, delete date and time. earlier choices and add new choices any number of times until they lock their final choices.
- Lock choices carefully before the deadline – 10 to 12 July 2018.
Step 3: Online Seat Allotment
During this step, the choices submitted by the candidates will be processed centrally using an allotment software developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) New Delhi and seats will be allotted in the order of merit as per JEE(Main) AIR and on the basis of the locked choices. The allotment result will be available on the CSAB-2018 website: www.csab.nic.in. Individual allotment letters will not be sent to the candidates. Candidates should take a printout of the allotment details from CSAB-2018 website. Candidates who are allotted seats will have to personally report to any one of the Reporting Centers convenient to them after deposition of online initial fee.
Step 4: Payment of Initial Fee
- Candidates should pay the required fee for Round 1, 2, 3, 4 and Spot round
- Candidates can pay their Payment through SBI Multi Option Payment System (MOPS) are available below
- Payment by INTERNET BANKING.
- Payment by CARD PAYMENTS.
- Payment by e-Challan using OTHER PAYMENT MODES.
- Candidates can also pay their Payment through ICICI Bank e-Chalan or Debit/Credit Card using ICICI Bank
Step 5: Reporting to Reporting Center (RC) for Provisional Admission
Candidates who get a seat allotment for the first time in any of the first three rounds should report to any Reporting Center within the stipulated period for those rounds for taking the provisional admission. Generally, the reporting time at all Reporting Centers is 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM.

Step 6: College & Branch Allotments of Round 1, 2 & 3
Branch and institute choices saved and locked by the candidates as scheduled will be processed centrally and the results will be available on the website www.csab.nic.in on the scheduled date. No individual allotment letters will be sent to candidates who get a seat allotment.
Note: The allotment of seats to candidates who do not report within the stipulated period to the Reporting Center will be cancelled and these candidates will not be considered for seat allotment in subsequent rounds. However, such candidates will be eligible for Spot Round, for which they have to register again during the schedule.
JEE Main 2018 Spot or 4th Round of Allotment
- For filling the vacant seats after 4th round of allotment, a spot round will be conducted in JEE Main 2018 Counselling.
- Already registered candidates need not register again.
- Fresh registration candidates have to fill choices, pay the non-refundable fees and lock choices at RCs only.
- JEE Main 2018 Spot round will be for seats in both Government Institutes (NITs, CFTIs and IIITs) and Private Institutes (SFTIs).
JEE Main 2018 Seat Allocation:
Seats in CSAB-2018 will be allocated on the basis of JEE (Main) All India Ranks (AIR) of the candidates as provided by CBSE. No other rank/merit will be used for seat allocation.
In NITs, 50% of the seats will be for Home State (HS) Quota and the remaining 50% for Others State (OS) Quota, i.e., all Other States and UTs except the Home State. ‘Other states quota’ exclude home state. In IIITs, other GFTIs and SFTIs, the seats will be allocated on the basis of HS/OS/All India Quota, as applicable.
Note: The entire admission process will consist of four rounds followed by a spot round. The first four rounds of admissions will cater for admissions to all institutes except SFTIs who will participate in Spot Round only. For more details, please read the subsequent sections.
