Reporting to the Department (Department of History, Wing B, UTD Building): 10.00 AM

Verification of Documents : 10.30 AM to 3.00 PM

Issue of Challan for fee deposit : 11.30 AM onwards

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE PRODUCED FOR VERIFICATION/SUBMISSION

1. 10th class mark sheet

2. 12th class mark sheet

3. TC/CC/Migration (Only original is accepted)

4. 02 recent passport size photographs

5. Valid Caste certificate (if required)

6. Income certificate (for proof of OBC non-creamy layer category)

7. Gap certificate in the form of affidavit in original (as applicable)

8. Mark sheet of qualifying examination

9. Undertaking of Anti-ragging from candidate/Guardian (to be provided by the office)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

1. Amount of Fee shall be as given in admission brochure

2. Relaxation in upper age-limit/ reservation of seats will be as per GOI/UGC/Vishwavidyalaya rules

3. Mere call for counselling does not ensure admission. Admission is strictly subject to satisfying eligibility conditions as given in admission brochure.

4. Working hrs of the university is 9.30 AM to 6.00 PM (Bank closing 4.00 PM)

5. All photocopies to be submitted should be self-attested

About: Department of History

Head : Dr. Seema Pandey

Established in the year 1996, the Department of History runs under the School of Social Sciences. The courses of B.A.(Hons.), M.A. (with specialization in medieval and modern history), Ph.D. are successfully running in the department. 5 year Integrated UG/PG course (with exit option after successful completion of UG) has been introduced in the session 2009-10. The performance of the students of the department has been excellent through these years.

With the start of Ph.D. course work programmes the department is actively involved in the research and developmental studies to encourage the academic interests among the students in the field of history. In the process, the department organizes several lectures by noted historians and eminent academicians in the the field. On the occasions of various events related to the historical importance and dates associated with the great personalities, the department organizes seminars and conferences. Apart from these activities the department also takes its students for educational tours to the places of historical and archaeological importance and thus makes them acquaint and closer to the knowledge of history.

For the research works and studies the students of the department have been able to availed fellowships and scholarships provided by the state and the central governments. Nine students received fellowships from Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), New Delhi while two got the Rajeev Gandhi Fellowship. With the motive of all round personality development of the students and to generate community feelings amongst them, the department also encourages its students towards active and successful participation in extra curricular activities through NSS.

The admission into the courses is made through the Entrance Examination held by the University. Following is the detail of the courses running with the department.
