The Thiruvalluvar University was founded at Vellore by the Government of Tamil Nadu in October 2002 Under the Thiruvalluvar University Act 2002. The University is Located in a Sprawling Campus of about 112.68 acres at the Serkkadu near Vallimali about 16 Km away from the Vellore City on Ranipet-Chittor Trunk Road. It has seven Departments, Tamil, Economics, Mathematics, Zoology, Chemistry, English and Bio-Technology. A Post Graduation extension center of this university is functioning at Villupuram.
